Just a Few Odds and Ends

Well, nothing as exciting as Las Vegas this week, but we have been busy. Ian has been off track for a couple of weeks and will be back in school after Presidents day. He is so great at entertaining himself and he uses such a variety of things to be creative with. Here he is with a bead octopus that he slept with for quite a few nights and took all over the house with him. It ended up with one really long leg that was about 2 feet long.

We had tried an experiment with Ian's hair. He has calics (however you spell it) on his hairline on his forehead and one in the middle of the crown of his head. We were trying to see if we grew his hair out enough that the weight of it would keep his hair more manageable. It didn't work. His long hair just stood on end and it never looked like we had even tried to comb it. Even if we slathered it with moose or gel it found it's way up again.

Personally I love him with short hair. I told him he was handsome and he just said he thinks his hair tickles now.

By the way, Happy Valentines day to everyone! This year someone decided to do the 14 days of Valentines to us (similar to the 12 days of Christmas). I had never heard of it, but someone sure made it fun for us. Every evening for 14 days there were fun surprises waiting for us on our front porch. It was focused more towards Ian I think, but Brian just laughed at me as I enjoyed it a lot and checked the front steps frequently in the evenings. It was definitely awesome and we never found out who it was that did it for us either. Definitely something I want to do for someone else next year maybe.

With all the house updates we've been doing I figured I'd add one more. The fabric that was used for our valances happened to go on sale after they were finished and we got some extra fabric. My hour long project was to make 2 pillows. I haven't sewn for a while and it was very theraputic to sit, sew, and then see the finished project. I have to say these are the nicest pillows I've ever made.

Here's how they tie in with the valance and the colors on our area rug.

So, there's my hodge-podge of an update. Love you all!

I really like the pillows and the valance...I so agree that sewing is very relaxing and therapeutic. I just sewed some throw pillows for my living room and love the homey feel that they bring!! Thanks for keeping us updated in your lives!
